“Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope."
-Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations
Welcome to the Old Wooden Bookshelf.
I am addicted to reading. The priceless information gained for the low cost of a book is too good of an opportunity to pass up. Once I learn something new from a book, I want to share it.
Not everyone can get to all of the books they want to read. I try to share the most valuable insights I find on my old wooden bookshelf, and present them to you in less time than it would take to read the books yourself.
As with most pursuits, the benefits come from the work, not from the result. Still, I hope I can offer some of the value from these often neglected books, and help you add a quality book to your reading list.
I graduated from Appalachian State University, where I studied English Literature. When I am not reading and writing, I tutor students in reading comprehension and essay writing. I currently live near Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Old Wooden Bookshelf is a collaborative effort.
The website would not be what it is without Brennen Smith. He is a professional at designing awesome websites. He makes the complicated behind the scenes work seem easy. Check out his work at https://www.lazarusdesignteam.com.
My administrator, Gayle Robertson, is also essential. I tend to be a reclusive reader and writer. Without her efforts, you probably would have never heard about this website.
