A Drive Across America: Day 4

A Drive Across America: Day 4

Amarillo got cold last night. It was 13 degrees out when I woke up, which makes me happy that it was the one night I slept at a hotel.

I ate at Torchy's Tacos for breakfast and got lunch to-go. Later, I hiked at Red Rock State Park in New Mexico towards Church Rock. The picture for this post is of Church Rock.

Thank you Ryn and Tom for the taco and hiking recommendations.

What amazes me the most about the desert--from Texas through New Mexico and Arizona--is how far you can see. Even Church Rock was deceptive: it was only after I had been hiking for an hour that I realized how far away the rock formation was.

I am staying at a state park near Winslow, Arizona, tonight. I'm writing this post from my tent.  It's really windy outside.
